Tree Threes
Tree Threes is a green thinking, Dj and Producer. Originally from London, he moved to Cork city as a youth, where he spent a chunk of his life before returning to his homeland, London, completing the full circle. He describes himself as an Electronic music producer trying to create music that people dance to or feel an emotional connection with.
His music style is based upon his upbringing. House music was always prevalent throughout his life; growing up in Cork, he recalls he couldn't escape it. This was where he found his favourite venue, Sir Henry’s – which provided abundant musical influence. Other influences evolved from a huge love of UK garage (ayia napa 2008), dub reggae sound & Broken-Beat . This was probably a sub-conscious thing, he tells us; as a true Londoner at heart, it was his way of reconnecting with his roots. It was back in London, at the always awesome Hackney wick, where he played his favourite gig.
Moving away from physical places of influence, to musical inspirations, Threes explains there’s many, listing; Groove Chronicles, Kaidi Tatham , Dego , Bugz in the Attic , Osunlade , Frank Booker , Domu , Soulphiction , Kerri Chandler , Gari Romalis , Moodymann , Nuyorican Soul, as just some of many. I am sure many of these appear on most music lovers’ lists, too.
His favourite label is Esuoh" hence the label focus mix. He tells us: “These guys are amazing, their catalogue is incredible and they apparently look after their artists very well.” Tree confesses that they believed in him from the beginning; so he has a soft spot for them, whilst "Omena" is another label he brings up, commending their amazing releases.
I asked Tree about his journey to being a producer and he admitted he created his first track about 10 years ago, and he admits it was absolutely shocking, but you have to start somewhere. However, as you can probably guess, it turned out to be a positive experience that he learned a lot from - it was so bad (his words). At this point, he knew his producing journey was going to take some time to perfect, making him really proud of how far he’s come since he started the long road of music production.
He has plenty of music up and coming, which will be released on some existing and established labels, as well as some new and exciting ones! So, stay tuned for his release – Maybe set a reminder on those lovely download sites!
His leaving thought was it's better to create and get judged, than not create at all " P.S - PLANT MORE TREES
